The destination was Beaune for an overnight stay - and driving along the backroads from town to town and village to village, there was something to discover at virtually every bend in the road.

And after one particular bend, I suddenly came across this beautiful scene. Naturally a stop was compulsory to gather reference and relevant notes for a future painting.

Although it was early in the Spring it is always a good time to visit a vineyard and sample some of the wines they are so proud of.
